All information recorded in your health records is confidential.
Your record will only be accessed by the staff who are responsible for the clerical records, and the radiologist and radiographer who are providing your care. All personnel in this practice are, by their employment contracts, bound to maintain strict patient confidentiality.
Other health care providers are given your personal health data only when you are being referred for other health advice or services.
In order to claim fees from ACC and other funding agencies, some data is given on specially prepared forms.
Under the privacy Act you have the right to have access to your personal information held at this practice via your medical practitioner.
No other information will be given to a third party without your permission.
Appointments
Mammograms, Ultrasounds and special procedures including biopsies all require appointments. Please call 0800 MAMMO1 (626 661).
If you are to have an ultrasound, special examination or CT, you will need an appointment. Please phone (0800 426 723) or visit your local Hamilton Radiology practice to make this appointment.
Who will do your examination?
Your examination will be performed by a Radiologist (a Doctor who specialises in medical imaging), a Radiographer (a specially trained X-ray technician) , or a Sonographer (a technician with ultrasound training)
After your examination
After your examination the Radiologist or Radiographer will let you know whether you need to wait, or if your examination is completed.
If you are asked to wait in the changing cubicle, please don't get changed unless advised to by the Radiographer.
Once the Radiographer has seen your X-rays, if they require any additional images, they may ask you to return to the X-ray room.
Accounts
A fee is payable for most examinations. In most cases you will have been quoted the examination charge. Payment for your examination is expected on the day unless you have received prior approval from your insurance company and therefore they will pay us if you send the account to them with your prior approval number.
Your examination report
The Radiologist sends a written report on your images or ultrasound to the person who referred you. This report will be sent electronically, by fax or by mail as the referrer has requested.
You should contact your referrer and discuss the examination report with them.
If you are coming for an examination and have previous films at home of the same body area, please ask the receptionist (when you make your appointment) whether you should bring them with you.
Smoke Free
All of the Hamilton Radiology practices are smoke-free.
Valuables
We cannot accept responsibility for your valuables. Please leave them at home or take them into the examination room with you.
Radiation safety
Our aim is to minimise your exposure to radiation. If you think you could be pregnant, and are to have a study using X-rays, please discuss this with the Radiographer or Radiologist.
Comments, Compliments and Complaints
We value your comments. We regularly send surveys to our patients. The computer generated surveys are randomly generated.
If you do receive a survey request, we would appreciate your comments. These help us to determine if we are meeting our desired standard of care and service to you.
If you wish to discuss the service you did or did not receive, please contact us so we can discuss this with you.
